Interacting With Your Visitors

Providing a FAQ Page

When creating a website that provides information or instructions, an accompanying FAQ page is often included. FAQ is an acronym that stands for frequently asked questions.

Over time it is necessary to update your site and add the answers to the FAQs to your content so they can be removed from the list. If the same questions keep coming up, then you have not provided enough information or clarity and this situation needs to be resolved.

The first step of creating a FAQ page is to setup a way for your visitors to give you feedback. This can come from emails or a comment form you place on your site. Remember that the FAQ page is only a temporary spot for questions and once answered, need to be implemented into your normal content.

A good practice is to follow up with the visitors that originally posed the question to check that the answer resolved any problems they might have had. Grouping your FAQs by category type will help visitors find their answers quicker. People want answers and they want them fast.

Giving Feedback To Your Visitors

You created your website to attract visitors so you could pass on information. One of the best ways to improve your site so you can attract more people is to incorporate a feedback form. This gives your visitor the ability to interact with your site and you as well.

A feedback form will give you the ability to hear what your visitors think, find out if there are potentially any errors in your content or just to say hi. After a visitor has filled out your form and sent the feedback, make sure to send them to a thank you page. By doing this, you will ensure that their submission was successful.

Your website visitors are the best critics of the content you are providing. The feedback you receive from them can be one of your best resources. The people who come to your website may have ideas to help improve or build upon your existing content.

One of the best resources you can have are the visitors who are knowledgeable with the content you are providing and are willing to share their experience to help with your efforts.

There is a downside to giving visitors the option of sending feedback. Sometimes you will receive negative comments and these should be taken in stride. Rather than wasting energy responding to them, work on helping the people who have genuine problems that need answers.

Always keep a professional attitude and continue to provide meaningful content and advice. People who are willing to send comments can potentially tell others about your site and help increase traffic.
